James! I think I missed the 40 day mark by a few but regardless—I hope the Empire State of the South has been treating you well, been as jazzy and entertaining as the Empire State of the North and all. If not though, here’s a bit of Brubeck with “Forty Days” (9:47-16:07) to pick up some of the slack.

Thank God It is Friday !

By Geof Kern

"Such, it seemed, was the joy of man…the happiness depended on not doing something which you could at any moment do and which, very often, it was not obvious why you should not do."

G.K. Chesterton, Orthodoxy

"I felt economical about the stars as if they were sapphires (they are called so in Milton’s Eden): I hoarded the hills. For the universe is a single jewel, and while it is a natural cant to talk of a jewel as peerless and priceless, of this jewel it is literally true. This cosmos is indeed without peer and without price: for there cannot be another one."

G.K. Chesterton, Orthodoxy

The story behind this picture is this:
Every day - at the same time - she waits for him.
Sometimes she barks to call him.
He comes; they rub and greet each other
and they go for a walk. They have done
this for 5 years and no, they don’t belong to the
same owners. The owners didn’t know until
neighbors seeing them together so frequently
commented to the cat’s owner, who then followed
the dog home which was a distance away - not
in a house close or next door. How it started no
one knows.
